Posted 03/27/2007 06:15 AM -0700 Dinner at the Blue Ox Restaurant in Ocean City MD. ( 126th St.) The place looks nice. Upon entering we were quickly shown to a booth and then waited for a server to greet us and take our order for appetizers and drinks. We sat around awhile with no wait staff in view. After a seemingly long time a waiter showed up and apologized for the delay due to more customers than anticipated and a wait person calling in sick.
He quickly brought our drinks, took our order for an appetizer, and a 16 oz prime rib with marinated mushrooms and twice baked potato, and pasta with shrimp and other seafood. A long while later he brought the appetizer, 6 oysters and 3 minutes later the main course. Instead of the marinated mushrooms I received mashed potatoes. The oysters were outstanding. Soon thereafter a young fellow brought a basket of cut up Italian bread with 2 small dishes of butter. The bread was pale, cold, chewy and flat. When the waiter passed by we asked him for a more tasty and done basket of bread. In no time he brought a basket with one small dish of butter and several pieces of fully baked bread with a nice light brown tan and crispy. Shortly thereafter the waiter brought glasses of water, nicely chilled and a bouquet of chlorine.
The main course was very tasty, but the overall dining experience was unpleasant. The restaurant is new, but while cruising Coastal Highway we were bombarded with radio ads touting the virtues of the newly opened Blue OX. It seems that management should have anticipated a large turnout on July 4 weekend, considering about 320,000 visitors were expected and the heavy advertising in print and radio. The wait staff should have been better trained, more staff was needed, the pantry should have been well stocked and management should have have been out on the floor asking customers how they liked the experience. There's nothing like direct feedback to clarify the picture.

Posted August 2005. Casual dinner at the Crabcake Factory (120th St.)in Ocean City. This is your typical small family restaurant with the usual plywood seating and a few tables. Drinks arrived fast and were perfect. Try the Gin and Tonic and Gray Goose on the rock. We ordered crab bisque and crab soup as an appetizer. The bisque was delicious and the soup tasted like alligator pee, with virtually no crab and no veges of any kind in the bowl. Don't order this until they figure out how to make this soup. Next were 2 orders of lump Crabcake, 1 with fries and the other a baked potato. The crabcakes were absolutely delicious. Service was excellent, and if you plan to bring noisy kids this is the place.

. If you want to have just a quick small meal, a few beers, listen to music in a pub atmosphere, Finnigan's is the place. (Princess Ann Hotel) Their large wings, crab, spinach and guacamole dip in a bread bowl is just great. Service was good and fast, maybe a little too fast in clearing the table while there was still food on the plate. We missed happy hour, but wings, shrimps and other items are about half price if you get there between 4 and 7.

Posted on 03/27/2007 06:15 AM. New Year's day was beautiful, just like everyday in the Ocean City. We made a reservation at Adolpho's Restaurant by the inlet for 8:30 P.M., the best time we could get before starving to death. We only waited about 15 minutes and the pleasant waitress led us to our table. She quickly took our drink order, and considering how busy the place was, we received them fairly quickly. Surprisingly she knew what a "Rusty Nail" is. She took our order of Antipasto, which turned out to be a huge plate of mixed greens, Italian Ham, pitless olives, delicious dressing, and various other tasty things. We took the rest home and enjoyed it for 2 more days. Then the bread came out. Whew, where did they get that? At the Food Lion™ in a plastic bag? It was soft and squishy and definitively needed some work,, like maybe baking it until it was crisp. The main entrees of veal parmesan and shrimp scampi were very delicious and plentiful. The wait staff and the cook (s) came out to visit with the guests and were having a good time too! We'll definitely put this list on our list of places to go to regularly.
We have been interested in dining at Carabbas Italian Grill in West Ocean City for some time. There was a 12 minute wait on Friday night, but the weather was nice and we waited outside outside on the comfortable benches provided.
Once seated service was fast, friendly and courteous. The warm, sliced Italian bread was hideous, the consistency of a moist sponge. It was probably Wonder White Bread heated under the infrared lights. We skipped the antipasto as we didn't see anything we liked, except perhaps the baked mozzarella. We ordered broiled shrimp over spaghetti and the sirloin steak. The pasta and sauce were excellent, the steak was tasty but at medium rare the center was bright red and nearly cold. I ate around the edges and took home the rest to boil some more.

Posted on 03/27/2007 The Olive Tree has great salad and some entrees are good. We've eaten here frequently, but doubt we will continue to do so. Last fall I had the Egg Plant Parmesan, the sauce was fine, but the single thick slab of eggplant was undercooked and tough. Too much thick over broiled cheese made the dish taste like rubber on a shingle. My wife's spaghetti and white clam sauce was good. The bread was too soft, the garlic butter was very good.
We tried the Garden again Sunday night. I had the salad with spaghetti and 4 meat balls. It all tasted good, but at 2:00 A.M. I woke to a very upset stomach and rushed upstairs to evacuate the problem. ( You know what happened there). Today is the second day after this event and my intestine is still unhappy. My guess is the meatballs had some issues no one was aware of. ( My wife's spaghetti and white clam sauce was fine)
